Our Work
Bernie Marcus was drawn to work that could move a field, not just support an organization.
The Marcus Foundation looks for unmet needs, serious solutions, and leaders with the urgency and discipline to turn an idea into measurable change.

How we select grants
A good grant should have a clear problem, a practical solution, strong leadership, and a way to know whether the work is succeeding. It should be able to explain what resources are needed, how they will be used, and what should change because of them.
They test an idea, build a model, strengthen the people doing the work, and attract others to join in. They should leave something stronger behind: a better institution, a new standard of care, or a more capable community.
